Joint 5A/5B Special Committee on the Taylor Street Protected Bike Lanes Project (JSCT)
Scope
The Joint 5A/5B Special Committee on Taylor Street Protected Bike Lanes (JSCT) was authorized by the Commission on November 20, 2024.
This Committee shall work to coordinate between Commission 5A and 5B specific to the Taylor Street Protected Bike Lane project. This includes:
Ensuring meetings with DDOT and stakeholders involve both Commissions
Ensuring draft resolutions/letters or draft recommendations (from appropriate committees) are circulated among both Commissions
Recommending joint text to be considered by both Commissions for motions, resolutions, letters, or recommendations (for appropriate committees)
This Committee shall have 6 members total, 3 from 5A and 3 from 5B, to be selected by their respective Commissions, and shall be co-chaired by representatives from each respective Commission.
As a special committee, this Committee shall dissolve at the end of calendar year 2025 or completion of the Taylor Street and Fort Drive NE Protected Bike Lane project, whichever occurs first.
For Commission 5B, 5B representatives shall work closely with the Transportation and Public Space Committee.
Recommendations
Committee Recommendations to the Commission pass via majority vote of the Committee in a public meeting.
Per Commission 5B Bylaws Section VII.1.3, "Standing and Special Committees are advisory bodies and may make recommendations to the Commission, which the Commission is not bound to follow."
